A Guide to Admissions & Registration

At BIG Hospitals, it is our goal to follow a well-organised way of receiving from the moment you check-in until the time you’re discharged by giving you a gift of stress-free healthcare journey.

  • The receptionist or the front office coordinator will assist you during the admission process.
  • You are to complete a one-time registration if it is your first visit.
  • You will be given a registration form and you are requested to kindly fill in all the required details accurately.
  • The hospital will generate a unique ID and it will be issued to you.
  • All the medical records will be maintained and stored by the hospital for future references under the unique ID generated.

Patient to bring

  • Photo ID, such as a driver’s license or passport ID for ID and address proof.
  • Insurance card and other information for any insurance claims

Visiting Hours

BIG Hospitals ensures that the admission, visit, and discharge processes are organised in a hassle-free way.

Here are our visiting hour timings we strictly adhere to :

Wards:

Weekdays: 4 P.M to 7 P.M and Sundays: 11 AM to 1 PM

ICU:

All days: 12 P.M to 1 P.M and 4 P.M to 5 P.M

General Guidelines for all Visitors :

At BIG Hospitals, we value our patients and their loved ones, and we are committed to promoting a safe, restful environment which is an important part of recovery process.

  • For the comfort of all our patients, we request you to limit your visitors during visiting hours.
  • Please note that visitors may be restricted according to a patient’s medical condition and/or special needs.
  • At the time of admission, you will be issued passes for attendant and visitor. Please request your attendant and visitors to wear/display these passes while in the hospital premises. In case of loss of the pass, get in touch with the concierge desk located in the hospital main entrance to get a duplicate issued (will be charged Rs 250 for a new one).
  • Visits by children under the age of 12 are not allowed on patient floors. This is to protect children from catching any infection.
  • Sanitise hands before and after visiting your patients in their room.
  • Usage of mobile phones is prohibited in critical care unit. Limit the usage of mobiles only in the approved areas. It’s best to speak soft enough so that other patients are not disturbed.

At BIG Hospitals, we aim to provide the best hospital journey and enhancing your care. We always encourage our patients to know about the entire hospital stay process from the condition, diagnosis, treatment to post-hospitalisation care for their better understanding.

Here is the list of practices you can follow for a stress-free and safe hospital stay.

1. Time to contact Insurance Company

When you go to avail the medical services at BIG Hospitals,

  • Please notify your hospital stay in advance to your respective insurance company.

2. Treatment

You should know about the treatment been given to you, duration of the treatment, risks and benefits, and follow-up check-ups. Please consult your respective doctors for more info.

3. Medications

Get the complete medication list that you are currently following and carry this list each time you see a health provider, including allergies to any medicines or dyes/contrast medium.

4. Tests and Surgery

  • Make sure your doctor explains the procedures to carry on the diagnosis and all the test results to you. Be clear about your understanding of results
  • Before signing any Informed Consent for the planned operative procedure, be aware of all the key information about surgery that includes a description of the procedure, risks & complications, benefits, and reasonable medical alternatives
  • Make sure your surgeon explains you the benefits and risks/complications
  • Ensure to know on continuing healthcare requirements, that is post-hospitalisation care,needed to be carried at home before you leave BIG Hospitals

5. What to Bring

  • Photo ID, such as a driver’s license or passport ID, and an address proof.
  • Insurance card and information for insurance claim

6. Your Room

At BIG Hospitals, you will be provided a room based on your booking, availability on the day of your admission. All rooms are furnished with an adjustable bed, television, and you are assured to have a pleasant stay in a calm and relaxed environment.

7. Your Meals

We are committed to offering food to all patients that are hygienically processed and of high nutritional value.
Tailored as per the needs of the patients on day to day basis
No outside food is permissible within the campus. However, we have an in-built cafeteria for patients’ visitors/attendees.

8. Your Health Care Team

At BIG Hospitals, you will be taken care with utmost care and compassion by a team of dedicated hospital-based doctors, nursing staff and allied health staff. Other medical professionals like laboratory technicians, imaging technicians, dietitians, therapists and pharmacists will also be visiting as and when required.

Hospital Discharge

The best part for a patient during the hospital journey is when he/she is ready for the discharge. At BIG Hospitals, we ensure to maintain a smooth discharge process as a part of enhanced patient care.

It can normally take up to two hours to three hours to complete the discharge process. Here is a tour on patient discharge process that every patient/patient’s family needs to know:

  • Firstly, the doctor will write a discharge summary after a thorough examination of the patient in the discharge chart and signs on the final discharge plan.
  • The doctor will review all your medications you should be taking at home
  • The nurse will assist you in the discharge process which may take 1-2 hrs to complete.
  • Financial arrangements will be reviewed and finalised
  • Once the payment bills are prepared, you are expected to clear your dues by paying cash or through credit/debit card. Please note that cheques are not accepted.
  • Once all the payment is cleared from you, you will be released to checkout
  • The nurse will hand over the discharge summary to you, and will advise follow-up appointments if needed, and brief you about your care after discharge

Please note: If you are in a requirement of the ambulatory facility, you are requested to inform the nurse for further assistance on ambulatory care.

Your Responsibilities

As a patient or attendant, you are responsible :

  • For keeping appointments, being on time for appointments, and calling your doctor/hospital beforehand if you cannot adhere to the appointment timing due to unforeseen reason.
  • For providing complete and accurate information, including your full name, address, telephone number, date of birth, particulars of next-of-kin and insurance company/TPA/employer, past illness, and medication details wherever required
  • For actively participating in your treatment plan and to keep your doctors and nurses informed of the effectiveness of your treatment
  • For your valuables. Please leave your valuables at home and only bring necessary items. Hospital staff/management is not liable for any loss of valuables
  • For treating all hospital staff, other patients and visitors with courtesy and respect; abide by the hospital rules and safety regulations; be considerate of noise levels, privacy and number of visitors, and comply with the ‘No Smoking’ policy
  • For understanding all instructions before signing the consent forms
  • For clearing the dueable amount/ collecting the bills of expenditure

Your Rights

As a patient or attendant, you have the right to :

  • Be treated with respect, consideration, compassion and dignity in a safe and clean environment regardless of your age, gender, race, origin, religion, sexual orientation or disabilities
  • Be addressed by your proper name and to be informed about the names of the doctors, nurses and other healthcare team members involved in your care
  • Full protection of your privacy, dignity and confidentiality in care discussions, examinations, and treatments
  • A clear and understandable explanation by your doctor about your diagnosis, as well as the benefits and risks of each treatment, expected outcome and change in medical condition
  • Be protected from physical abuse and neglect
  • Receive information from the hospital regarding the expected cost of treatment and payment policies
  • Request for a copy of your medical records as per protocol
